Quick note on jargon first!
- Anyone living on Kings Crescent is automatically a member of the residents’ group, officially known as the ‘Tenants & Residents Association (TRA) and there is a committee of residents elected to represent us all (I am the Chair of this committee).
- ‘Unit C’ is the unit between Wallington & Kimpton Courts on Murrain Road (play street) that was vacant for a long time but now has exciting things happening!
Update:
We are delighted that local arts charity Hackney Showroom has won the tender to take over Unit C. Hackney Showroom will be delivering a whole raft of exciting and interesting community arts projects and events, from holiday schemes for kids to street parties, adult learning courses and more. They will host their artistic activities there too, such as theatre rehearsals and there will be opportunities for residents to come and see early stages of their work-in-progress theatre shows!
The TRA committee and Hackney Showroom are working together with Hackney Council’s Regeneration Team on a plan to transform Unit C into 2 rooms with a communal space to access to facilities. That way the space can be shared more easily by residents for any events and regular activities we want to run.

Details of exactly how we as a TRA work together with Hackney Showroom and plans for the space are still being ironed out so please be patient with us. We hope to announce everything officially soon!
Hackney Showroom and the TRA committee have already started working closely together to plan projects – our first plan is a big community party on 21st March with a disco, community meal, live entertainment and bingo! (See event page).
