Dear Tenants & Residents Associations, and Neighbourhood Panel Chairs Important changes to your estate cleansing service We are writing to inform you about some important changes to our estate cleansing service, which are being introduced to improve the cleanliness and appearance of our estates. These changes are designed to provide a more effi cient and effective service, and we believe they will lead to a better environment for all residents. What's changing? Previously, our estates cleansing service operated with two different teams: one for ‘spot cleaning’ (check and rectify) and another for a more thorough ‘enhanced clean’ every 20 days. We also had a separate roving cleaning crew that moved around the borough to support the estate cleaners in specifi c problem areas. Based on a review of our current system, we are implementing the following key changes: 1. Combined cleaning responsibilities: All cleansing staff will now be responsible for both the daily ‘check and rectify’ tasks and the more in-depth routine cleaning (previously the 20-day enhanced clean). This change means one cleaner will have complete ownership of all cleaning work within their designated area. 2. Smaller, dedicated patches: We have reviewed and reorganised the existing cleaning areas into smaller "patches." This means cleansing staff will spend more time in their assigned blocks, increasing their visibility to residents and fostering a greater sense of ownership. 3. Updated cleaning schedules: The cleaning schedule has been adjusted to ensure thorough and consistent cleaning. Mondays will be dedicated to a prolonged ‘check and rectify’ after the weekend. From Tuesdays to Fridays, a lighter ‘check and rectify’ will occur daily, with weekly, fortnightly, and four-weekly jobs split across the week. 4. Additional support crew: We are forming an additional cleaning crew to support the existing roving cleaning team. This will allow for more responsive support in problem areas across the borough. What does this mean for you? While the number of staff delivering the service and the overall cost will remain the same, we anticipate a slight enhancement to the level of service as some tasks will now be undertaken more frequently.
