On Tuesday a mains water valve broke at the top of Queens Drive and caused torrents of water to flow down Queens Drive and into Kings Crescent Estate. Many ground floor properties in Bramfield, Theobalds and Datchworth Courts were affected by the rising water. Some residents have had to be evacuated to alternative accommodation.
Thames Water managed to stop the flow of water at about 4pm and water quickly subsided and was pumped out of Kings Crescent. However, extensive damage was sustained to many properties in the area, particularly in basement flats on Queens Drive and towards Mountgrove Road as well as the ground floor properties that were hit by the water.
The burst pipe also caused a loss of water supply to the area but this was restored to most properties later Tuesday evening.
